is a system of beliefs and behaviours that recognises and respects the presence of all diverse groups in an organisation or society, acknowledges and values their socio-cultural differences, and encourages and enables their continued contribution within an inclusive cultural context which empowers all within the organisation or society (Rosado,1997).
 
Diversity
is about including people from various social and ethnic backgrounds (Miller et al., 2018)
 
Equity
is equal access to and success in higher education among ethnic-minority and low-income students (Bensimon & Polkinghorne, 2003)
 
Inclusion
goes beyond acceptance and is about valuing and appreciating individuals’ differences. Inclusion requires environments in higher education that provide places of belonging (Ferdman, 2014)
