The future of user-generated content is that it will become the more powerful tool brands have to rise above an increasingly noisy environment. Brands will learn how to use user-generated content but rather than corrupting user-generated content, it will result in more transparency and better understanding between customers and brands. So far, many brands example like Coca-Cola, GAP and others have used user-generated content to engage with and connect with their audience. But in the future, brands will understand that simply using this user-generated content is not enough - they need to learn how to tap into the power of it. User-generated content is unique because it is by the people, for the people, and the people will quickly become aware of fake, brand-driven user-generated content campaigns. For brands and consumers to work successfully with user-generated content transparency is key. This will lead to a better relationship overall between brands and consumers, as brands realize that they are being viewed and at risk for having bad reviews, bad social media feedback. if they behave inappropriately, rip off their customers, etc.
