         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. An intervention is a way to help/meet the needs of students that have different levels based on different needs - there are academic and behavioral interventions<br>2. The purpose of an intervention is to intervene to meet needs to prevent an even bigger issue<br>3.&nbsp;<br>Tier 1 - covers all students - has to do with your class routines, expectations, etc. - 80% of students should be covered by this and not need further interventions<br><br>Tier 2 - like 10-15% of students may fall into this. These students need individualized intervention beyond the whole class interventions<br><br>Tier 3 - only 5% of students should be around here - escalated to the highest level of need. For behavior, this is where things like behavior contracts come in or required one-on-one tutoring</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>2. The purpose of an intervention is to correct behaviors that have been or are detrimental to everyone involved.<br>3. Tier 1 intervention is the least severe and usually only requires minimal input and effort. Used to correct easily remedied behaviors such as tardies or late work.&nbsp;<br>Tier 2 is more severe than tier 1 in that it requires more intervention and is usually for more problematic behaviors such as insubordination and consistent defiance.<br>Tier 3 is the most severe behaviors and intervention is designed to create lasting and positive behavioral changes to correct extreme behaviors or consistently destructive behaviors. These include lashing out at teachers or admins repeatedly or other more destructive behaviors. This requires a contract to remediate. </div>]]></description>

Tier 1 refers to actions taken during instructional time. Tier 2 involves individual conferences with the students and calling home.
