The louder the sound the more attention that's being drawn to you therefore feeding you're ego. For those who choose to "hit the concrete wall" you may be just as foolish but in a less attention seeking way. Those who hit the wall aren't making a loud of noise to attract attention but can inflict more pain and bruises upon themselves causing more damage. Usually when someone gets mad they want to take their anger out on something a hollow locker and make a loud noise, or in solitude and doesn't want the attention of anyone. I think it's best to be the person that doesn't want everyone to know their problems or anything. That does not show their feelings or wants attention by being loud and obnoxious. 
Be the person that is quiet and keeps their problems to themselves. Don't be the obnoxious person that nobody can stand.

The other type of person who "hit the concrete wall" are getting straight to the point and doing it in a mature way trying to resolve the situation. Hitting a locker makes a really loud sound but hitting a wall doesn't. So the people who are hitting lockers are just wanting attention and the people who are hitting walls are actually having emotions and sent just doing it for attention.

People who hit something hollow, seek attention from others. They want other people to hear their pain and question them about their pain. People who hit a concrete wall tend to be really mad and hit the first thing they see to ease their pain.
