Managing an education system with an annual operating budget of more than $60 million, he has helped the district’s schools become some of the most progressive in the area, earning accolades from a number of publications for their forward-thinking approaches to classroom instruction. Additionally, Dr. Matthew J. Murphy has helped the district achieve Apple Distinguished District certification, given to districts that rate highly in innovation, leadership, and academics. Prior to his work at Ramsey, Dr. Murphy served as chief school administrator for the River Vale Board of Education, where he was responsible for nearly 1,400 students and 250 staff members. Under his leadership, River Vale integrated 21st century skills into its core curriculum, earning distinction as an innovative, high-performing district.
