This explains that cardiovascular diseases are diseases of the heart or blood vessels which can be commonly referred to as heart disease or stroke. It also explains how cardiovascular disease is the number one killer worldwide and responsible for over 17 million annual global deaths. The increasing prevalence of CVD risk factors come in the form of the rise of numbers of people with uncontrollable hypertension, overweight children, 1 billion smokers, and 23% of adults being insufficiently active globally. As you can see, CVD is a very serious disease which takes the lives of millions and needs to be decreased by avoiding such risk factors.

This article explains how the implementation of a medical registry which could serve as a valuable source of epidemiological data that could help with disease surveillance would help to prevent CVD. This could also be used to inform physicians to identify healthcare gaps and unmet needs in disease management. Considering this, a CVD risk registry could inform physicians about
baseline CV risk assessment which could lead to the improvement of CVD care through lifestyle changes and treatment initiation and intensification.

Although this article states that cases of CVD will simply increase in the next 20 years if nothing changes, this does not have to be the case. Organizations dedicated to decreasing the burden of CVD suggest that in order to prevent the development of CVD, we must encourage diets with less sodium intake, discourage smoking and tabacco use, expanding affordable healthcare coverage, and promoting increased physical activity especially in children.

This also covers health factors such as high cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose control that contribute to the risk factors of cardiovascular disease. The update also includes the latest data on a range of major clinical heart and circulatory disease condition which help to create awareness and educate the public.

This concept map explains the ways in which Cardiovascular diseases are the number one leading cause of death around the world and what we must do in order to decrease the burden of disease caused by CVD. In order to approach the possible eradication of not only CVD, but also many other diseases which contribute to the global burden of disease, we must understand the severity as well as the root causes and risk factors of the disease. In addition, we must also understand ways in which we can treat and prevent such diseases in the future.
