Capitol Hill is a developed area. The infrastructures are sufficient, and the green space is adequate. The majority race here is Whites, and the homeless are hard to see. Based on the houses beside the street, we determine rich people are living here. The houses are modern and look expensive. Many cranes are constructing new buildings. Light rails are running through the streets.

We visited downtown Capitol Hill and the park near downtown. Houses near parks are known to be more expensive than ones that aren't, so we assumed that ones we saw would be very expensive. What surprised me the most about our visit is that I thought Capitol Hill would be more like a suburban neighborhood environment, rather than a downtown urban environment. I also thought it was just going to be a neighborhood on a hill, like it's name refers in Capitol "Hill".

Race/Ethnicity/Culture can be both an asset and barrier.

ASSET - Current efforts for inclusivity among all people are being made. Capitol Hill is known as a community for the LGBTQ+ population in Seattle.

BARRIER - Due to Capitol Hill previously being a redlined community in the 1900s, there is a 13% rate of poverty that is majorly comprised of Black, Hispanic, and underrepresented minorities. This means that efforts need to be made to increase the accessibility of resources to the population.

When my group visited Capitol Hill, we noticed that there was lots of ongoing development efforts to make life accessible for the diverse communities within the area. One of Capitol Hill's most notable developments is the rainbow crosswalks that intersect the roadways in the effort to represent inclusivity and a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. We visited the community in the evening, and we noticed various residents spending time in their own groups at the public parks. These observations could indicate divisions between communities.

After doing research on the price of housing on Zillow, this verifies that housing is very expensive in Capitol Hill, especially near parks. This is because the cheapest property for sale is 335,000 dollars which is just for a condo. I am doing affordable housing which is a barrier to the neighborhood because after looking on Zillow, the prices of buying property is very inflated.

We actually saw a big part of green spaces in Capitol Hill, and it's as walkable as I originally thought. The Anderson park takes up a lot of spaces, you can appreciate the night view of city skyline from the park. I saw many people jogging and walking their dog, children chasing each other on the green spaces. We saw that there are many residential area built around the park, and it's very convenient for the resident to fully use the green spaces for recreational purposes.
