I added a few things for the final product. I picked orange since I saw a mars magazine, Mars is one of my favorite planets. Space is one of my favorite interest and my main inspiration in my artwork.

This was the first layout of my collage. I knew I wanted to do a round collage and I wanted a weave in the back so I went with blue as my color since I found it the most. Circles make me think of the moon so I did a crescent shape by layering different images and playing with the different shades of blue. I also added some stars to fill in the space, but I wanted to challenge myself to not be such a perfectionist so I forced myself to make the stars without using scissors. I like the organic shape they have.

I was really happy with the moon shape, but it needed something else so I played around with adding more of these organic stars. I wasn't too happy with them, I felt that they covered too much of the moon and get lost in the process. You'll also notice the frame. Since I knew I wanted my collage to be round, I used the leftover of my base paper to see what would be show and what would be cut off.

While I was still figuring out the finer details I decided to glue the elements I liked which was the weave and the moon. In an effort to test my perfectionism I glued the weave as it fell so you can see the strips raise up and the base paper peek through which I feel added to the texture. I also continued to not use scissors to cut off the excess so I have these organic edges as well as leaving some material hanging off the edges. It was here that I got the idea of adding an eye. I tried to look for a portrait of someone with blue eyes, but I couldn't find one so I made my own. I tried to keep with the torn edges with the eye, but I didn't love it so you'll see I cut something cleaner in the final version.

Here is the final collage. I was messing around with the placement of the eye and once I added it to the bottom I saw it leads your eye up to the stars. That's when I knew I was done. You can see that the eye is made with cleaner lines. Since I wanted it to be clear that it was an eye I cut it out with scissors instead of tearing it and I think it adds a nice touch. It stands out over the more organic shapes. I love how this came out. I went with a moon and sky concept, but Professor Gregor said the stars look like sting rays and I did use a lot of images of water. Maybe that's the best accident, I mean the moon controls the tides right? That's some real synergy lol

I like this one so much mainly because the way I cut out 2 of the biggest magazine paper looks like a 10 so I'll be using this as my final collage I really love it.

I liked this one a lot more! The castle being upside down adds a layer of intrigue. The eye peeking behind the log is my favorite part.
