Some popular artists of folk rock include The Byrds, Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, and Art Garfunkel. Two influences of folk rock are traditional folk music and rock music. Typical instruments used for folk rock artists were the electric guitar, bass, drums and harmonica. A significant event that occurred during this time was Bob Dylan ¨plugging in" during the Newport Folk Festival, where the majority of the audience, live and at home, turned away from him for betraying folk music.
