Jeopardy is an American TV game show produced by Sony Pictures Television. There are three contestants ( one being the previous episodes winner). There are three rounds. In the first and second round
(Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy), there are six categories. The third and final round is called final jeopardy. The current host is Alex Trebek. When the episode starts the returning champion selects a clue from a category. In the first round, each category has 5 clues. Each clue is either worth $200, $400, $600, $800, or $1,000 . The higher the point value, the harder the question. If you get that question correct, you get that amount of money added to your score. The host will read the clue aloud and anyone can buzz in to answer it. If you get the clue incorrect, you get that amount taken away from your score. The categories include science, history, current events, art, languages, and literature. In the second round, Double Jeopardy, there are six new categories. The point values get double. The person in last place gets to pick the first clue in double jeopardy. In final jeopardy, the last round, there is only one clue given. The host first reads the category and then the contestants make their wagers on how much they will win or lose depending on if they get the question correct or incorrect. A commercial break follows this. The question is revealed when the show comes back. They have thirty seconds to answer the question electronically. The episode's winner is whoever has the most points in the end.

The game show first aired in March , 1964. The creator of the show was Merv Griffin. The first host of the show was Art Fleming. He hosted from 1964 - 1975. Then he returned in 1978 and stayed until 1979. The current host, Alex Trebek, started hosting in 1984 and is still hosting today.
Before 1984, every contestant got to keep their point values in cash. It got changed to only the first person got to keep their point value in cash to keep the game more interesting. During the time they were doing this and you were to get zero or in negative points, you would get a consolation prize. The show used to be filmed in Studio 6A in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Then it was filmed in Studio 3 in Burbank Studios in Burbank, California. It was then moved to Metromedia Stage, KTTV, on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Also, NBC used to show Jeopardy but now it is on ABC. On March 16, 2007, there was the first and only three way tie. They all had $16,000. On the first season of Jeopardy, when buzzers were pressed, you could hear them. The producers decided to get rid of them because the noise was too distracting.

If you were the person to pick that clue then you get to wager points from five to the number of points you have or the highest point value in the round .

It is very hard to study for Jeopardy. There are so many different topics. Some very different and some a like. The Jeopardy winner isn't necessarily the smartest, it's the person who is the fastests at pushing the buzzer. All of the contestants on Jeopardy are smart. They all had to pass a very difficult test to be considered for the show. The players don't know the categories until the game starts. Fun fact: Contestants who are on the short side get put on a platform that raises them up to make the look taller.

Maybe to make it more popular the producers could try to include younger people's interests because they will be the next generation. If they don't get that generation interested, their views will go down.
