A way I was respectful, responsible, and safe was by not eating anything. I liked the all of the plants. Photosynthesis relates to the garden because the plants need sunlight, water, and energy to grow. I liked the rain barrels because they were a creative way to save water. I also liked how they made a place for their squash to grow and how they made a special trellis for their plants to grow on.

Mr Jiang's yard combines water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight to make food so that it can grow. My favorite parts of the garden were the mint plant because it smelled very good and the squash because I like the the way he made the garden for the squash.

I liked the big squash. I loved all the colors and cool plants. I saw long skinny and big fat squash. that hung from a tree. It was a big garden.

I liked the shiso plant the best because it is easy to pick 50 or 60 leaves that are delicious and fresh.

The rain barrel uses rain water to get water for your hose to water your plants without wasting water. I was respectful to Mr. Jiang's garden by not touching the plants without permission and looking at the plants from a few feet away.]'[

Something I learned today is that there is a plant called the shiso plant and that people use rain barrels to collect the water. My grandpa also has a garden in his backyard.

My favorite part was when we walked through the vine and wood pathway. A squash vine can grow more than 40 ft. The fruits that were there were mint leaves, squash, tomatoes, ginger root, yellow peppers, okra, taro root, and shiso lettuce. I was respectful, responsible, and safe by not eating or touching , unless I was told.

Something I learned about on the field trip is that you can cook okra. I also never knew that there was such thing as a Chinese string bean. Another thing I did not know is that they grew eggplant.

One thing I learned was he used a rain barrel to collect the rain. A hose is attached to the barrel so he can use the hose to water the plants instead of using the water you get from a house.

One plant that was the most interesting to me was the ginger. Because I did not know you got the ginger from the roots and you can eat it and cook with it.

The squash vine is able to grow up to 30 ft long or more and can become so big! And my favorite thing about this field trip was just being outdoors and just seeing the plants. It was really fun.

I went to this yard with my whole class. It was so fun! Mr. Jiang's yard had a lot of edible food. it was so cool because there was this rain barrel that collected rain water. Some plants that have roots that are food. Like yellow peppers, ginger, mint, turnips and grape tomatoes.

I saw mint, yellow peppers, ginger, and squash. You can eat the roots of a ginger plant. That is really cool. I LOVED their GARDEN! I could not believe that a squash vine could grow 40 ft and only have 3 or 4 squash. I love the smell of the mint plant. It smelled great! I definitely say this is an edible yard!

Something I learned today is that there are many types of foods and plants that Mr Jiang grows in his garden. A few examples are squash, radishes, tomatoes, okra, yellow peppers, ginger root, mint leaves and lettuce. I also learned that they used a rain barrel for watering their plants.

I loved the part when we learned how the squash vine grows way up high. Mr. Jiang's garden also had lettuce. I saw evidence of transpiration because there was water droplets on the leaves. For the ginger, I know that you eat the roots because Mr. Jiang and Mrs. Tian dug up the plant and showed us the bottom and we passed it around. You had to pay attention on the field trip in order to understand what was going on. You also had to listen carefully when the teacher told you which one was green beans because they can give you a rash like poison ivy and that is dangerous for people like me who have a severe allergy to that.

When Mr.Jiang dug the Ginger out of the ground, it looked good to eat, but we had to go back to the school. We talked about what we learned and what we saw. I loved the part when we were looking at the squash in the shade.

I was respectful by listening to rules, by touching plants only if the teacher told you, and by being respectful to others.
My favorite part of the field trip was seeing the flowers because some of them make food too.

I loved the humidity of the place and the natural habitat. I really loved the ginger and how they actually dug up a piece of it. The ginger is a plant that gives us food from the roots. The squash also really interested me by how big it got. It was huge! <3 :)

It was so cool how the squash was so big. It looked like a watermelon, but it was a different shape and color. When I grow up I would like to have a garden like Mr. Jiang's.

We plant almost every plant in the edible yard, too. My favorite plants were probably the ginger and the squash because the squash is so long and the ginger looks so weird. It's hilarious. It is also interesting how you have to dig to get the ginger! I think we eat ginger cooked too! We plant almost all those plants, TOO! I loved the squash and yellow peppers. Let's just say I LOVED EVERYTHING!
