The urban space can either connect or disconnect people. Berlin is my third place of residence over the last 19 years, so I was wondering whether I feel myself connected to the city and through the city to myself. Thus, if the cityscape is a medium for connection, what embodies this idea of connectivity? My first reaction was the following list: 1. railway stations/airports/ports 2. S-Bahn or U-Bahn 3. Internet (since Berliner Fernsehturm is a very 'touristy' site, I have chosen the Funkturm as an object of my particular interest). Was any of these initial answers the indicator of connection for me? Moscow, on the other hand, offers a diametrically opposed perspective which is 'downside-up'. In fact, in the 20th century the railway satiation was a sort of monumental gateway (the Propylaea) to Berlin.
