Habitat Fragmentation also allows researchers to have the ability to study island habitats and the strain it has on animals. 

The Dam does provide a contained fresh water source, untainted by salt water.

Cons:
Massive flooding wipes out habitats and animals and produces habitat fragmentation.

The Dam provides a cheap, self sustaining hydroelectric power that helps the Chinese government provide energy to its population with out breaking the bank.

Cons:
The people forced to move are payed by the government a compensation valued at their land and home.

The relocation means many people living in the interior of China now live in the more populated coastal areas bringing them to better opportunities and updates life. 

The Dam makes for easier travel on the Yangtze River and it isn't as hard to navigate once on the river for commercial and domestic ships.

Cons:
In May of 2008, the dam broke after an earthquake letting massive 
flooding to occur killing 87,000 people.
