George Whitefield was a popular preacher due to his angelic persona, amplified by his charisma which allowed him to preach about separating from England. Charisma allowed him to gain the attention and support of lots of people which helped to further his cause. His ideas about separating from England, and because he was criticizing the church also lead to his popularity. And, he also made people believe that he was a messenger from heaven, saving people's souls. All in all, these three factors helped to gain lots of support from the American Colonies.

George Whitefield became popular due to his new religious ideas (seperate from Puritans & contesting the central ideas in Calvinism), his clear and strong voice that he used to preach powerfully to the people, his kindness towards the people and different regions, and finally due to the spread of his name and preachings throughout the colonies as a whole

Whitefield was the voice that the people of the young U.S were in dire need of. He brought thousands of hurt and broken souls to church, even at the cost of other pastor’s hate being now directed towards him. Many did not agree with his ideals at times but still had respect for the man, further putting him in the spotlight. He was charismatic, a leader, and angelic, which amplified his message. Audiences were often left questioning their indifference to religion after Whitfield spoke, leading more and more people back to religious beliefs.
