It's a kind of a test but rather harder than just ususal school test. Every school have to choose some students who will go and write it but if you really want you can go there even if school hasn't chosen you. 
A situation like that happend with my classmate. This olimpiade caused every subject and he decided to choose History as the main subject. If you go to this Olimpiade you can skip some lessons.  And thats why he went there. He disliked Chemestry and while we were sittting there and writting test, he was in another classroom on this History olimpiade. 
At first his plan was to choose different answers in the test part and thats it. But when he saw the test part without options he was upset. So, he decided to cheat. He was only one in the classroom and he had his mobile with him. he just googled the answers. The next day when his work was checked by our history teatcher every one were shocked. The student who didn't like the History and literealy didn't know anything had a perfect olimpiade work. He said that he had prepaired well and had watched a lot of historical films. So, he 
passed to the next stage.
But on the next stage he was sitting under cameras but didn't know about it and starting cheatting again. Of course immediately he was kicked out of the classroom. At the and our teacher and director got a reprimand. Since then our school couldn't decide whom to send to this kind of a contest.
