Who has the most impact on the development of your character & moral values? How & why?

Prayer by faithful individuals in my life has connected me to One who has had the greatest impact on the development of my character and moral values. Although my mother prayed for me in my youth, it wasn't until 2004 that my I gave my life to Christ. It was in such a unique way that I can say it was God showing up in a real way for me. In fact, the day before I became Christian, I denied that Jesus existed. Then sitting at my desk at work, the Spirit fell upon me, brought light to my eyes and led me to the Bible to study, grow, and explore. And although I have experienced profound pain in my life and made decisions that greatly impacted me, God, through His Son, has been merciful and gracious to me. I am saved by His amazing grace!

What experiences have had the most impact on the development of your character and moral values? How and why?

Above all, the Holy Spirit working in my life and heart and the Word of God through the Bible have had the greatest impact on my character and moral values. The moral law written by the finger of God on two tablets of stone in the Old Testament, is a promise in the New Covenant to be written on the tablets of the heart (a gift for all who believe by faith). The personal relationship with a risen Savior, the indwelling of the Spirit, the light of God's word, the intelligent articulation and pinpoint accuracy of Bible prophecy, and the comfort and peace found in the Word are the greatest gifts I have personally received.

Without a doubt, trial, tribulation, and difficulties have had a great impact on the growth and development of my character and moral values. There is something about drawing strength in difficult times, overcoming suffering and pain (even if I have been a catalyst to that suffering). The process of falling down and rising up builds a certain strength of conviction. I believe that these defining moments in my life have served as "workman" to refine my character, push me toward a deeper trust in God (rather than self), and provide a catalyst for overcoming adversity.
