I currently use an AI program (Amira) that is mandated by Baltimore County that acts as a benchmark and PM program for reading. I also use PebbleGo as an online text. I rarely have students use their own devices to access digital tools and instead use my device and project the tool and interact with it as a class. The reason why I do this instead of 1:1 devices is honestly for the sake of time.

After exploring Digital Inquiry Group website, the First Thanksgiving Lesson would be one that is very engaging for my students. It is an easy lesson to modify for younger learners. The original lesson has students identifying whether the artifact is an accurate depiction of the First Thanksgiving by using their sourcing skills. For younger students, we could compare and contrast two images to determine which is more accurate and to notice any similarities or differences. I also really love how the rubrics for the assessment of this lesson are in English and Spanish.

Sadly, our students are getting on technology at home, and bringing issues created at home with technology into the school environment. There have been issues of cyberbullying, as well as inappropriate messaging and soliciting of inappropriate photos. Due to the nature of the situations, administration, parents, and the police have been handling these cases.

All students are getting the same content but the process differs based on needs.

This strategy could be used in any discipline, but specific to social studies, it would be fun to have students use in our "Captain Kid" unit where we talk about finding treasure using cardinal directions and how the sun interacts with objects to make shadows. We use an example of a real pirate who attempted to find his treasure but did not know how to read a compass and never found his treasure. Students are expected to "help" him finally find his treasure. Students could "act out" the mistakes that Captain Kid made throughout his journey and other students could notice the mistakes and critique what went wrong.
