Alexandria was a city in Egypt that was a location in the Silk Road. It was the second largest city in Egypt and it was also a big civilization in the ancient world for crossing point for merchants and their trade in the routes between Asia and Europe. Then Alexandria became the new centre of trade and rapidly one of the most important cities in the ancient world. Egypt's most produced goods was grain, cotton, and spices these were luxury goods that were very valuable to them. Alexandria and Kilwa from the Indian Ocean trade route can have lots of things in common like both cities were really important to the ancient world by one thing or another. For example like Alexandria was important for crossing merchants and their trade across Asia and Europe, But Kilwa also played an important role in the trade route of the Indian Ocean where traders intermarried African woman and the place became a mixture of languages.

Xi'An, Shaanxi, China

Xi'an was a city in China that was also a location in the Silk Road trading route, there you can learn about Western products and Fashion in Chinese culture. They also have a religion of Buddhism, and people got to trade religions and learn about others.

The cities of Xi'an and Sofala from the Indian Ocean also have similarities. For example both trade route cities had a good to exchange.

Bam, Pakistan

Bam was one of the locations in the Silk Road trade route which was in the southeast corner in Iran. There was an abandoned walled city from the earlier times made out of layers of mud, and sun dried mud bricks. Bam was a city surrounded by palm trees, also cotton goods such ass head scarves, napkins, and cloth for turbans. A devastating earthquake happened and killed more than 26,000 citizens and destroying historical buildings. Some differences that Bam and Madagascar from the Indian Ocean has was that Madagascar seems very stable with goods to trade and good building. While Bam has earthquakes that destroy their cities and kills lots of people.

Nara, Japan

Nara was a city in Japan but also one of the locations of the trade route of the Sild Road. Nara was the ancient capital of Japan, Nara had a cultural hub where Japanese, Chinese, and Korean get together and significance for Buddhists and Shintoists. Buddhism was on of the most famous religions passed down the Silk Road and it was transmitted by pilgrims, monks and indeed merchants. Lots of temples in Nara were built too the Buddhist. The city's main temple was the most largest monastery in the Nara period which was a statue of the seated Great Buddha. In addition to religion cultures Buddhist also had goods like jewlery, masks, furniture, music instruments, sculptures, pottery, maps, etc. There were some differences that Nara and Guangzhou from China had. For example Guangzhou the city from China only believed in Buddhism but unlike people in Nara are really religious towards Buddhism that they even have temples made for him, they have a sculpture of Buddha and they were getting the religions transmitted down the Silk Road.

Madagascar

Madagascar was a location in the Indian Ocean trade route that crossed to the southern Indian Ocean. Austronesian people would use prahus to cross which was like a boat, and crossing with that boat they discovered Madagascar. They learned many cultural and linguistic traits like speaking Malagasy and Astronesian language. They also had several food crops like bananas, coconut, and sugar cane in

Madagascar.

Something Madagascar and Bam from the Silk Road have in common is that each city builds their building with their own technology. For example Madagascar uses blow pipes, wet and dry rice cultivation, stilt houses, and domesticated plow cattle. While people in Bam used layers of mud and sun-dried mud bricks.

Kilwa Kisiwani, Tanzania

Kilwa played a very important role in the Indian Ocean trade route, Some traders intermarried with the African woman and it became a mixture of languages. Kilwa also had lot of Luxury goods from India and China like gold, copper, iron, coconuts, ivory, rhino horns, porcelain, jewels, glass wear, and cloth and because of all these goods the city became wealthy from taxes and profits from the trade. Some differences that Kilwa and Alexandria from Egypt had were that both cities had lots of luxury goods to trade but for example Alexandria only trades good from Egypt, unlike Kilwa that has goods from India and China.

Sofala, Mozambique

Sofala was a location in the Indian Ocean trade route which had lots of it items to trade like their source of gold, ivory and pearls were found there which were luxury goods to exchange.

The city Sofala can have differences with the city of Xi'an from the Silk Road. Both cities prove that not every city around the trade routes all had Luxury goods to trade, like the city of Xi'an which had religion and culture to trade.

Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China

Guangzhou was a city in China but also a location in the Indian Ocean. Guangzhou also known as "Canton" is the oldest Chinese harbor for international trade. This city had became an port of call for the many different people travelling from the Indian Ocean to the Sea of China and it was part of the networks in Indochina. It started to be like a bustling port with mosques and Nestorian places of workship and Buddhist stupas. Guangzhou was a famous city in Chinese trade because of the fine and unique wears China had to offer which that was a high demand in many other places. When Chinese manufacturing production in ceramics, metalwork, silk textiles increased. Guangzhou and Nara from Japan can be similar because both cities had unique goods to offer. For example Guangzhou had like ceramics, metalwork, and silk textiles, but Nara also had jewlery, masks, furniture, music instruments, sculptures, pottery and maps.
