I believe the Universal Declaration of Human Rights would offer the most significant benefits if fully embraced in my local community of Los Angeles. Given the city’s cultural richness and socioeconomic disparities, applying these human rights principles could help address systemic inequities in education, housing, and healthcare. Many of my students come from historically marginalized backgrounds, and ensuring their rights to dignity, safety, and opportunity is essential to their academic and personal growth. Strengthening this global framework at the local level aligns with my mission as an educator to create inclusive, affirming learning environments where every child can thrive.

I think the world, as a whole, could benefit by refocusing on the UDHR. What we see today in places like Palestine, the Sudan, and Yemen are grave, avoidable injustices. We need to recognize the UDHR and work to right these wrongs.
