This study examines the critical flow of operations within interconnected supply networks, emphasizing the interdependencies between these operations for optimal performance. Coordination challenges across different levels of the network significantly impact efficiency. While distinct from operations management, operations strategy focuses on long-term planning aligned with broader business objectives. Effective process flow is paramount for achieving operational efficiency. The scope of operations strategy varies significantly across industries. Four key perspectives on developing operations strategy are highlighted: top-down direction from management, valuable insights from operational staff, adapting to market requirements, and leveraging operational resources for competitive advantage.

By intentionally severing ties with the past, Volkswagenwerk aimed to disrupt existing norms and foster innovation. This bold approach required decisive leadership and a willingness to embrace change without hesitation.

In essence: Volkswagenwerk, before 1939, prioritized forward momentum and strategic disruption by deliberately cutting off ties with its past, leaving no room for retreat and encouraging bold decision-making to chart a new course.
