Humanism shifted from being a pious conservative movement initially to a bold an independent movement.

Renaissance a response to the narrow pedantry of medieval scholasticism. Humanists valued education and aimed to develop a society where citizens could speak and write with eloquence and therefore engage with the life of their communtiy.

What's more humanism valued virtuous actions. (man become his best self).

Overall humanists aimed to revive the legacy, literature and moral philosophies of greco-roman antiquity.

How useful were these sources?
I think that the Wiki page gave a good overall grounding in the aims of Humanism and some of the characteristics. As Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, I'd have to be sure to verify the information. A great place to start though. The history guide was better for getting an idea of the philosophy and the context, I think that it had it bit more depth to it
