Analysis: Before Simon is brutally killed by the other boys, a dark storm rages over the island. This darkness represents the evil that lurks on the Island and only appears when bad things occur. The storm coincides with the dark to blind the boys so they are even more scared. Analysis: The boys are naturally wanting to have fun and because of that they are using valuable time to throw rocks into the ocean. Analysis: In the aftermath of one of the most gruesome deaths of a person in the story, Piggy is concerned that they just murdered Simon. Ralph gets upset and uses the dark as an excuse. Analysis: When Roger returns from the forest with Maurice, he begins to bully the littluns for fun. He even begins to start throwing rocks at Henry. Roger made sure the rocks he threw at Henry did not actually hit him.
