The direct method can be used in young people and adults creating a total immersion environment in the English language, specifying the main topic of the class, teaching new vocabulary and using real objects, images or gestures as reference.

In class the teacher can teach useful phrases and simple grammatical structures to build sentences, while interacting with the student, this is a good way to promote learning, the students expand their vocabulary, another activity can be to create dialogues and short conversations, using everyday situations or applying role-playing games, in this way the student learns to develop their language skills. The teacher's focus is effective communication of the English language, encouraging participation and correcting mistakes.

Improving the student's fluency and confidence when expressing themselves in the language they are learning is something that has a positive impact on their ability to express themselves in writing but, nevertheless, it is necessary to improve so that students can close the gap that opens when only grammar or vocabulary is studied. This is related to strategic competence, since participation is also important and an example to encourage it is using gestures or appropriate mimicry so that the listener understands what you want to say.

The direct method is one of the methodologies that teachers use the most, it focuses on developing productive skills such as speaking and writing, however I think the teacher should challenge their students to develop these skills effectively, making them get out of their comfort zone but at the same time making them feel secure, making them practice daily in group conversations of any subject, while the teacher is in charge of correcting pronunciation and at the same time helping students when they do not know what to say and are afraid to participate.

One of the positive aspects of the direct method is that the students have an active role during the class, as they are the main actors, playing the role of speakers. As we observe in the video, they participate throughout the class and interact with their teacher and with each other all the time.
Another positive aspect is that, thanks to the continuous practice of this method, students can improve their pronunciation and fluency, since they learn vocabulary through complete sentences with meaning and not isolated words. In addition, we can see in the video that the teacher focuses on the correct pronunciation of the students, and we can even see that she corrects them sometimes.

This method is characterized by the use of realia in teaching English, which can be very beneficial. According to Wikipedia, realia are real-life objects that educators use in class to give students a better understanding of other cultures and real-life situations. This can be really useful when teaching English to adults, as relating adult learners to real-life vocabulary and phrases will allow them to apply it in their daily lives, as suggested by Bloom's taxonomy. Moreover, adults achieve meaningful learning when what they learn can be related to their real life.
