We all have our own personal meanings of difference and how we see it in the real world. The process of dichotomization affects my understanding of difference because with dichotomy its two parts will never be equal, but difference is equal because we all allocate and process things differently, but still accept that its not exactly the same whether we like it or not.

An example of a master status that may not be seen as privileged and is stigmatized is an African American Bisexual male who is in the middle class and Christian. This example is stigmatized because its seen as different compared to a straight white male in the middle class and Christian. This experience has influenced my understanding of difference by realizing not everyone has to look a certain way or have a certain skin color to be black or to be Canadian, everyone is unique in their own way that isn't always considered "normal" to others.
