After talking about the parts of the listening activities(Pre-Listening, While-Listening, Post-Listening) we adopted an activity from the coursebooks we use in our classes. It was very useful for me to study on materials that we have already been using. I refreshed my knowledge and by taking feedback from my colleagues, I noticed the parts that I couldn't see.
It is not always easy to use authentic materials or the ones from other sources as it requires extra time for preparation. Besides, we have coursebooks, and we should also do the coursebook activities. Eventually, I would mostly use the combination of these materials. And sometimes, it would be practical to use coursebooks by thinking about the steps of listening activities and adopting them if necessary.
I think, the ideas about developing more active listening skills are useful. It's a small district and nearly half of our students are from the smaller towns or villages of Ordu. In the area they live, they don't need to use English. That's why, most of them have some motivational problems. Since they don't need to use English in their daily life, they prefer to study just before the exams. I can say that the situation is nearly the same in all schools except some top schools which have the most successful students of the city.
Today, we've brainstormed on different problems that the teachers have at schools in Türkiye. Besides, we've studied on the stages of speaking activities and I've taken some useful ideas. Firstly, we should choose the speaking activities carefully or differentiate the activities in the coursebooks according to our students' interests, needs and levels. Next, we can help our students to find a goal on learning English or the one that requires English. Moreover, with the help of technology, we can prepare interesting activities since today's children are very interested in using technological devices. The applications that we have practiced today like Flip, Voki, ESL Videos, Animoto, Paperslide are very useful. We created some activities for Interest, Pre-Reading, While-Reading and Post-Reading stages.
For the Interest part, we asked some questions related to the text like, 'Have you ever sent or taken an email before?', 'What do you expect to see in an email?'. 
After that, we prepared some Pre-Reading activities. We can give the key words on this stage. For instance, we can ask them to match the pictures with their meanings. Also, we can draw a chart on the table and write what they know about the text and what they expect to read in the text.
In the While-Reading part, we can ask a question to get the gist/main idea of the text. Here, we can use the title and ask, 'What do you think about the title of the text?, What is the text about? Then, we can use a True/False activity to get the details of the text. We can also use a gap filling activity or some other questions to get the details of the text.
In the Post-Reading part, we can ask students to write a paragraph using highlighted words. Other options can be a pair discussion activity or if it is an email, we can ask them to write an email to a friend or parents.
There are several ideas that my colleagues would find useful but drawing a chart on the board can be the one that they would like to use. By this way, we can elicit our students' knowledge about the text and see what they expect to find in the text. In today's world, we all use technology and internet. Technology helps us to do our work in a shorter time and more efficiently. When my students use Padlet, I can see their writing texts all together on one screen. So, it will be easy to write comments about them anytime and anywhere. I can also see their previous texts, compare them and see if there's a development or not. I think, students will also like it because it's practical to use keyboard instead of a pen.
English teachers know a lot about writing. But the problem is that: We don't have enough time to focus on only writing. As a result, we need practical and interesting writing activities. When I think about the writing sessions we had today, Postie Postie would be the most interesting activity both for the teahers in a PDC meeting and our students. Because it's personal and can be applied in a short time. Today, I also realized that, if we carefully plan our writing lessons, the activities will be more useful no matter if it is a Product Approach writing, Process Writing or Snack Writing. I think it's a good idea to use it. It may take some time to prepare it ; on the other hand, it saves time using it in classes. Since we know the length of the video, it will be easier to plan our lesson. After the Paperslide video in the class we can use CCQs and if necessary we can do some extra activities in order to make the meaning clear.
There are several web pages or applications that we can use for practising vocabulary. I would like to use one of them for vocabulary practice. Kahoot, Quizizz and Blooket are very useful. I sometimes use Kahoot in my lessons both for grammar and vocabulary and my students really like it. From now on, I also would like to use other web pages for the vocabulary activities. Besides, as a group, we prepared a kind of vocabulary game without using technology. We drew a map and some buildings on it. Then, we wrote the names of ten places like library, hospital, etc. each on a small paper. Then, with the help of the clues, students were required to stick the names on the correct buildings in their groups.
