The Beach at Sainte-Adresse, Claude Monet 1867A group of fishermen working on their boats during low tide. It relates to my topic because “low tide” can be a comparison to someone in an unhappy mood, and when being with others and conversing a being extroverted, it can improve your mood and state of mind.

This helps my argument that the true key to happiness is being happy where you are by needing to be alone and think about your life and how it is fulfilling and being happy at the moment even if you get sad sometimes.

The painting has a darker tone to it but is not the focus of the painting hence it called happiness and not sadness. It reminds me of the part of my essay where the ability to bounce back from sadness is crucial but avoiding sadness is not the best strategy. It is resembled in this painting by the person in a sad environment but maintaining a positive emotion about it.

This is similar to the part of my paper where I explain being extroverted and being friendly with others is very important to continual happiness and possibly going out of your comfort zone where members of multiple classes are out celebrating as well.

The painting depicts soldiers coming back to their loved ones after a recent war and enjoying the time they have with them. This relates to my topic by showing how common it is for happy (based on the smiles and dancing in the painting) people to enjoy interacting with others and not taking what they have (their loved ones) for granted and being happy in the moment. The argument being made is to enjoy the small things in life and live in the moment based on the leisure tone of the individuals and slightly cartoonish style used.

It reminds me of how much control is needed and certainty that is required for landing on these machines on a different planet, and I think it can relate to everyday life. We need constant control and confidence that we are doing what we desire and our actions put us on that path to success or we become unhappy.

It is a portrait of George Washington in a civilian dress. George Washington is a great example of a forward thinking individual, he knew not to set up America similarly to the UK and let the figure of power have restrictions, set terms of office and the consent of the people which led to a prosperous nation for hundreds of years. Individuals need to be forward thinking, but maybe not to the same extent as Washington, but nonetheless it is essential for an optimistic and pleasurable life which is key to maintaining happiness.

This is also expressed in my paper where I shed light that people are also very different in what makes them happy, so being confident can bear different meanings based on the person. This is a common issue encountered when trying to create a set method for a “one size fits all” approach to happiness.
