As with any group, we encountered listening challenges. At times, I found myself rehearsing what I wanted to say instead of fully listening to others’ contributions. To reduce this, I paused before replying, and I re-read posts to make sure I understood before responding. Other group members showed strong active listening by paraphrasing each other’s points or asking clarifying questions. By being mindful of these listening blocks, we kept communication respectful and effective.

Our team also engaged in boundary spanning—connecting internal collaboration with external resources. We integrated course readings, such as Lawson et al. on persuasion and conflict resolution, and McKay on messages. We also included an outside source from Harvard Business School Online (2022), which emphasizes storytelling for clarity and impact. By bringing in these insights, we connected our academic learning to practical leadership communication strategies.

The biggest lesson I learned is that influence is more sustainable than authority. Our collaboration reinforced that trust, empathy, and clear communication lead to better outcomes than control. I also saw firsthand how collaboration enhances group resilience and how reflection helps reduce bias. Finally, the role of storytelling stood out—visuals and narratives, like our infographic itself, improved both clarity and engagement in our group work.
