I think videos, apps, web resources are useful tools but the focus is the person and the best way to create an authentic relationship is the real, direct presence.

I think is useful doing online mentoring, also for our time and for our contact vizual and auditive. The smell and the touch is not so important, because can affect the personality of mentee and also can inhibe. Sometime, the mente need only some opinion or need to discuss with someone with more experience, not necesarily to be touch. If my mentee feel that need my presence in his classroom, i will be there and i will collaborate with him with all my pleasure.

The idea to use video for teachers scares me a bit . Generally the only ones who use the cameras in the Italian school are the Police men when they suspect some abuse!

On one hand, the lesson which was recorded is much easier to analyse for both parties (a mentor and a mentee) but on the other hand, it might be an artificial & uncomfortable situation for both students and teachers to participate in such a lesson. Moreover, shy students may not participate at all.

I consider it very useful in these times when the day is full of diverse, demanding professional activities, and the traveling time is getting less and less. There is no culture of video recording in the assessment of teacher performance. Its use would have to start by taking place in the preparatory sessions and only later in the context of the classroom. i think the video is very important to understand that everybody may feel in a mentee expectation, i mean a teacher may be a coacher for colleagues and students and parents , as well.
