one challenging thing/event was when my teacher started crashing out in class. she was raging for a good 30 minutes and it killed the entire class' mood. It is because of this event, i lost interest in English for awhile. I started to dread each English class , did not really review what was taught and the initial spark i had for English was just gone. So, during this period of time my English results dropped.

one meaningful thing/event was when this same exact English teacher encouraged me after reading my reflection. long story short , my reflection was about how i felt disappointed in my English results and how i had lost my spark in the subject. She gave me very sweet and thoughtful words that really touched me. i might have actually shed a tear or two. those words she said stuck with me throughout the whole year and i slowly found myself enjoying the subject again! the words she said will stick with me forever.

1 social cause I am interested in

one social cause i am interested in is the lack of companionship the elders have.

Since most people are very busy and rarely have time to do anything other than work. the elder's children do not have time to visit often and take that time they have off to rest. however the start of the pandemic , this situation got worse. many elderlies were locked at homes or at nursing homes by themselves. this was because it was difficult for both the elders and their caregivers or children to leave their homes to visit them. leaving them by themselves , feeling isolated and alone.

Before my uncle passed on during the pandemic season , I heard from my relatives that he felt very lonely and isolated. Hence, he died with his eyes open because he wanted to see his family members one last time before he left. That made me really upset and I could not imagine how terrible that feeling must have felt. Thus , why i picked this social cause.

I can go and visit these nursing homes and company these elders. I can also try to donate to charities that support this social cause.

Would you enjoy taking part in one of the events mentioned in the articles? Why, or why not?

yes , i would enjoy taking part in one of these events. ever since i was little , i always wanted to be a hair-dresser. i would cut my dolls hair and style them. Therefore , if i am given the skills and courses to have the qualifications to cut people's hair , i would 100% do it.

Other than that , i enjoy socialising with others. I am a very extrovert person that loves chit-chatting and making new friends. So , i believe through this volunteering act , ill be able to meet new people and engage in meaningful conversations with others !

lastly , it would be a great learning opportunity for me. I can learn how to be a good volunteer and give back to the community :)

1. I expected my grammar to be better. 2. I have been working really hard to fix my grammar. I did grammar quizzes on quizlet and blooket. I used those apps to improve my SVA and run on sentences. Those 2 grammar components being my weakest. Therefore , I worked extremely hard to correct them. Sadly , it did not really work :( I still made a large number of grammar mistakes , which to be very frank made me disappointed in myself. 3. I was really anxious and stressed out during the exam. I was mainly nervous because writing has never been my strong suit. Maybe that is why I made so many careless mistakes and could not focus properly. Or maybe , the study method I used was not the most effective. Those are possible reasons that hindered my success. 4. In the future , I'll calm myself down before the exam and have a positive mindset.

Date : 20 February 2025

To : ccateacher@moe.edu.sg

From : ong_yue_xi_jessica@students.edu.sg

Subject : CCA's Values in action (VIA) activity

(there's no underline)

Dear Ms tan ,

I hope this email finds you well. I am Jessica Ong , one of your students in your CCA who has been chosen to lead the VIA programme for the secondary three students. I am writing this email to inform you on the VIA activity that the committee has chosen.

The activity the committee and I have chosen is the Exhibition gallery. This is because we are able to sort materials in a simple way to navigate layout and garner the attention of visitors to explore our gallery. We can do this as we have taken art in our lower secondary days. Meaning we can come up with creative yet easy to get through layouts. Moreover , majority of us have experience from either camps , class based activities. Even when it comes to neatly arranging our own personal things or CCA equipment. As we have these experiences , we can create not just neat layout , but also a creative one with our small yet impactful experience. Furthermore , we can build stronger bonds with one another while making a presentable layout for our volunteers to enjoy. Thus , why my committee and I picked the exhibition gallery.

My CCA mates and I can benefit as we will learn new and helpful skills. We learn how to make and design a comfortable and warmful environment for our volunteers to communicate with visitors and give them information on the main purpose of the exhibition. As CCA members , we also need to create and organise many activities such as bonding sessions and farewell ceremonies for our seniors. Through this VIA project , we will learn how to plan and create better CCA-based programmes. We will also know how to make our programmes how to make our programmes more interesting , enjoyable and suited for everyone. We will do this through our rich experience gained from the exhibition gallery programme and with the enriching skills we have learnt and achieved. My CCA mates that are not CCA leaders can apply the skills taught in their personal lives. Example , the socialising skills gained can help them in making new friends in their new classes or help them interact with their juniors with ease. Therefore , this activity will equip us with more useful skills.

Lastly , some concerns my CCA mates might have is related to the date of the event. The event is held on 22 December 2025 , which is also a Sunday. This is a problem as it is on a weekend where some CCA members might be away on vacation since it is also the holidays. This means they would have to skip this meaningful activity. What I attend to do to address this problem is to let my CCA members know the date of the VIA beforehand. So, they can reschedule their holiday plans or let their parents know in advance. However , if they really cannot make it , I will tell them to let me know in advance and see if we could let them participate in a different volunteering activity in the future.

Another concern my CCA mates might have is they might not know how to interact with others. This can be a problem as it could impact their quality of speech when interacting with others or even make them afraid to speak up. To address this issue , I can teach them some basic speaking skills for them to apply . Before the event starts , I can also do breathing exercises with them to cool them down. That way , they can present to the volunteers calmly and easily. Allowing the information they will be spreading to be shared clearly and confidently. Leaving the guests or volunteers with a good impression and improving my CCA mates speaking skills and overall confidence.

Thank you for reading my email. I hope you will approve our ideas and allow us to go for this one of a kind and enriching VIA project.

Yours sincerely ,

Jessica Ong.

He knew what he was doing and was in clear state of mind. a death penalty is the only way for him to learn his lesson and for others to know the significant impacts of murder and joining of secret societies.

Shahrulnizam has 4 charges against him , caused harm to Sharvin , was heavily involved in the brawl and in a secret society.

the other parties , who may or may not have caused hurt to others , were bystanders that encouraged their secret society members to fight. As said earlier , they are members of the secret society which is illegal and should be punished accordingly.

q2 ) others might think the other parties do not deserve any sentence as they were NOT physically involved , therefore thinking that my sentencing is too harsh. others might also not agree with my death penalty as they do not support it. lastly , they might not agree with some of the sentencings as they could be considered "too long" for crimes that are "minor" (there are more serious cases , not that this one isn't serious)
