Interviewer: I want to ask you about your dreams. When you were young, what dreams did you have?

Antoni Jaworski: When I was young, I had simple dreams. I dreamed about having a good job, a happy family, and a small house with a garden. I also dreamed about travelling, because in those times it was not easy.

Interviewer: What job did you want to do when you were a child?

Antoni Jaworski: I wanted to be a train driver. I loved trains. I thought it was a big adventure to travel to different places and meet different people.

Interviewer: Did your dreams change when you got older?

Antoni Jaworski: Yes, they changed. When I became older, I understood that life is not always easy. My dreams became more realistic. I started to dream more about stability, peace, and health, not only about adventures.

Interviewer: Which of your dreams came true?

Antoni Jaworski: Some of my dreams came true. I didn’t become a train driver, but I found a job that I liked. I also created a strong family, and this is the most important thing for me. After many years, I also bought a small house, just like I dreamed.

Interviewer: Which dreams didn’t come true?

Antoni Jaworski: I didn’t travel as much as I wanted. I wanted to see places like France and England, but it was too expensive at that time. Another dream was to study at university, but I had to start working early to help my family.

Interviewer: What was the biggest challenge in your life?

Antoni Jaworski: The biggest challenge was to live in difficult times. We didn’t have much money. Sometimes I worked very hard and still it was not enough. But I learned to be strong and responsible.

Interviewer: Are you proud of your life? Why?

Antoni Jaworski: Yes, I am proud. I’m proud because I never gave up, even when life was difficult. I’m also proud that I could support my family and teach my children to be honest and hard-working.

Interviewer: If you could go back in time, would you do anything differently?

Antoni Jaworski: Maybe I would learn more languages and try to travel more. I think travelling teaches people a lot. But I don’t regret my life. Everything made me who I am today.

Antoni Jaworski: I would say: don’t be afraid of hard work, but also remember to enjoy life. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. If you have a dream, start step by step. And always stay close to your family, because family is very important.

-I didn't have many dreams. Life was very difficult because we had to work very hard to have what we needed. I helped my parents with everything I could: a animals and the garden. So we hoped to have a good crop and healthy animals.

-Did you dream to have beautiful toys?

-We didn't have toys. We played running after each other we played hide and seel and we made a ball of old clothes. Touch didn't existed.

-What dreams did you have when you grow up?

-I wanted to be a wife and a good mother.

-Did you succeed?

-Yes. My husband loved me because I helped him with everything. He was an accountant and I helped him. We didn't have calculator. And we had a beautiful and dever daughter.

-I didn't visit some beautiful places in my country because we didn't enough money.

-What are you proud of?

-I am proud of my family and of my house because I build with my husband.

–Answer: Of course I did, like anyone else. I wasn’t dreaming of anything extreme—just what you could realistically imagine in our time.

–Question: So, what were your dreams?

–Answer: I studied accounting in high school, and my basic goal back then was to keep going in that field—either to become a better accountant or eventually a CPA (certified public accountant). Another main goal of mine was to get into a great university in my field. I also dreamed of being a businesswoman who demanded respect with her presence. Besides these, I hoped to build a loving family and have children one day.

–Question: Which of these came true and which didn’t?

–Answer: I studied and finished high school successfully. Now, I have a very loving family, with two children that I adore and a husband who will be my companion throughout my life. However, after having children, I had to leave my job as an accountant, which meant that my dream of becoming a CPA and pursuing higher education came to an end. Yet, twenty-five years later, in 2019, I decided to study at Istanbul University. My major was Child Development. Despite great difficulties, I completed my studies in that field and graduated in 2022 with a degree and honors. In short, I completed both high school and university successfully. I have a beautiful family with two precious children of my own. I worked as an accountant for a short period, then left the job due to the demands of my life.

–Question: Are you happy now? Or is there anything you regret doing/not doing?

–Answer: I am indeed happy now. If there’s anything I regret not doing, it would be not continuing to work after I had children. Honestly, it would have been great. But it’s in the past now. I’m happy and at peace with my current life.

- How was your life back then?

- I was born in a small village with my mom, dad and two sisters. When i grew older i lost my sisters because of an ilness. My family didn't let me go to school so i would spend my days in our house. I got married when i was seventeen or eighteen. I was still pretty young.

- Did you have a dream?

- I always wanted to go to school and learn how to write and read properly.

- What are the most important things in your life right now?

- My family, my children and grandchildren. I wish i could see them everyday.

- Did you enjoy your life so far?

- Yes, even though i didn't get a chance to live my life properly i am still happy. I'm happy with my life here in the village and it's enough for me. I have people taking care of me and im happy tending the garden we have here. I can pass my time growing my plants. I'm thankful for everyone.

Mom:I wanted to work in chemistry fields.

Did that dream come true?

Mom:Unfortunately, it didn't. I wanted to become a chemistry teacher but the school I was assigned to was really far so I couldn't go there.

What is your job now?

Mom: I don't have one. I'm a housewife.

My last question is: Are you happy with your life currently?

Mom:I definitely am, I have a amazing son, a fantastic girl and a loving husband.

Petra: When I was a child, I wanted to be a princess. I loved fairy tales, castles, and beautiful dresses. I often imagined living in a big palace.

Me: And what was your dream job when you were older?

Petra: When I was older, my dream job was to become a flight attendant. I was very interested in airplanes and traveling.

Me: Why did you want to be a flight attendant?

Petra: Because I wanted to see the world. I wanted to visit different countries, meet new people, and learn about other cultures. I thought it was an exciting job.

1: I wanted to become a super model. When you are a kid you have mind full of ideas and dreams. I was wearing my Mathers clothes and her high hills. That were naturally big . I changed them on and was pretending that my hall is a runway.

2:I was dreaming about skiing and this dream became true.i was able to go skiing when I was already an adult, so decided to learn skiing with the trainer. After few lessons I was able to go ski on my own. I was very proud of my and motivated. Now fortunately I’m skiing very well and also have fun from skiing.

I would get up early in the mornings, look at the sky and watch the planes / I would dream of helping sick people / I would try to shape wood / I would eagerly wait for what I planted in the soil to grow / I would run around in the field...

Uncle Ahmet: Today I've embarked on a path a little different from my childhood dreams, but that's life, full of surprises.

Interviewer: How does your current profession/life make you feel? What's the connection between the Ahmet you dreamed of as a child and the Ahmet of today? Even though today's Ahmet hasn't achieved the dreams of that younger Ahmet, is he happy with his life?
