The DAISY Foundation is eager to support the delivery of patient- and family-centered care of disadvantaged populations by funding nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP) projects designed to address social determinants of health aimed at improving health outcomes.

The DAISY Foundation expects the principal investigators or EBP project leaders to design projects that support the needs of their local community, which are aligned with their organization’s Community Relations Office’s priorities. Dissemination of the results of this scholarly work, both internal and external to the organization, will expand the evidence needed to inform interventions that improve health and reduce health disparities.

The deadline for abstract and award submissions is 29 August 2024.

Smith Awards-funded projects must plan and implement clinical education and process improvement initiatives designed to directly improve patient safety and clinical processes that enhance the delivery of care and minimize the opportunity for claims and litigation. In addition, projects must identify at least one additional anticipated objective for results to be shared in a broader peer-reviewed context, e.g., journal publication or presentation to local, national, or international forum. Any published material resulting from the project must be provided to the Smith Awards program.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for a FONL Educational Scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

1. Current active membership in FONL

2. Active RN license in the state of Florida

3. Enrolled or have proof of enrollment in one of the following programs:

BSN, MSN/MBA, MBA, MPH, MHA, MS, MSN, ARNP, DNP, or PhD

4. Enrolled in an academic institution in one of the above programs when scholarship is awarded.

• Recognition Roadmap: Gain insights into achieving ANCC recognition, elevating your organization.

• Best Practices: Align with ANCC standards to enhance job satisfaction and performance.

• Innovations & Research: Glean insights, information and deeper understanding about the latest trends from global nursing experts.

• CNE Credits: Earn up to 24 contact hours.

• Networking: Forge meaningful connections with nursing leaders and peers.

The purpose of the SNRS Research Grant Award is to support and promote new investigators in initiating or building a program of research, which advances nursing science and practice. Funds are available for quantitative and qualitative research on any topic relevant to the nursing profession. This award will fund research that is not being done for course credit. The SNRS Research Grant is for up to $7500.

For Nurse Researchers: This program provides support for nurses who:

• Continually evaluate their practice

• Seek answers to clinical questions to improve their practice

• Change their practice based on evidence and evaluation of that change

For Patients with Auto-Immune Diseases and Cancer: Nurses will improve care outcomes as a result of their findings!

The College of Nursing, UF Health, and the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System are partnering to present the 2026 Nursing Research Summit and Malasanos Lectureship. The Nursing Research Summit will showcase innovative research that can be used to solve complex health problems.

Now an annual highlight of the program, we are excited to continue offering the opportunity to present your abstract through a Lightning Talk format. Lightning Talks use a fast-paced delivery method consisting of 15 informational slides that auto-advance every 32 seconds for a total of 8 minutes. Lightning Talk presenters are provided with pre-timed slide decks along with additional resources and practice support. This dynamic presentation style allows presenters to illustrate the most salient details of their projects in a concise and engaging way.

2026 Nursing Research Summit and Malasanos LEctureship

Join us for a full-day symposium designed to inspire, connect and equip nurses and health care professionals to lead meaningful change through the power of research, evidence-based practice and quality. This dynamic symposium brings together thought leaders, clinicians and scholars to bridge the space between inquiry and impact. From the opening keynote to collaborative networking, attendees will leave energized with practical tools, scholarly resources and a renewed commitment to transforming patient care.

This free, fully virtual event, showcases the innovative scholarly work of our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students as they share evidence-informed projects that improve patient care, strengthen health outcomes and advance nursing practice across diverse clinical and community settings.

Throughout the day, attendees will enjoy rapid-fire presentations, interactive Catalyst Conversations and a keynote address by Laurie Duckworth, PhD, APRN, FNP-C, FAAN, exploring topics such as quality improvement, implementation science, patient safety, population health, health care technology, care coordination and nursing leadership.

Continuing Nursing Education

Participants may earn up to 6 contact hours by meeting attendance requirements and completing the program evaluation. Attendance must be through the Zoom desktop or mobile app; telephone dial-in participation is not eligible for contact hours.
