There were fourteen in all, scattered through five different websites all accessible to all students. We hoped the contest would run a week but had our top three winners in the first day! (prizes were Star Wars hoodies from Hot Topic) Students told me they enjoyed looking for the icons and now know more about these websites than before, so win/win!

Students submitted poetry, and then i created a Google Site to post it all and a link to a form for voting. I invited all staff and students to participate in the voting. I had several students email thanking us for continuing the contest as it was a nice way to connect, be artistic, and still learn!
