Also, organizations need more leaders who are honest because followers, customers, shareholders, and the public are willing to work with the leader who is honest.

The first step I want to take right now is being honest to my leadership vision. That means I want to help my followers based on my value instead of making up a leadership vision to convince them to work for me. As Richard (2018) mentioned that: “honesty refers to truthfulness and nondeception.” (p39). Therefore, I will start helping people from my classmates and friends. For example, I will explain questions for them to help them get a better grade. Also, I will help my classmates improving their problem-solving skills and make them feel happy.

The second step I will take is that never lies to my classmates and friends. I believe that people have the right to know the truth, so, I have to tell them the truth. For example, when someone is asking me for help, I would give him/her a hand when I am available rather than saying no time. That is the step I can do to build trust with my classmates and friends, which is significant to my leadership goal. As Richard (2018) mentioned that: “leaders who model their ethical convictions through their daily actions command admiration, respect, and loyalty.” (p39).

The third step I want to do is when I promise something, I have to do it without reasons. For example, if I promised to watch basketball games with my friends, I have to set up a schedule to do it. I believe this is an essential step to be honest instead of promising many times and doing nothing. As Richard (2018) argued that: “Successful leaders have also been found to be highly consistent, doing exactly what they say they will do when they say they will do it.” (p39).

Reasons: I want to improve my leadership style to transformational leadership. One of the reasons is transformational leadership has a vision of the desired future, which matches my career goal of opening hotels in the future. Also, transformational leadership requires specific plan to achieve the goal, which makes the vision more available. Furthermore, transformational leadership pays attention to followers needs and skills, which matches my leadership vision and my values.

Action Plan:

I used to think that a big dream is impossible to achieve. However, since I learned transformational leadership, I understand that big dream can achieve if I have a specific action plan. Therefore, the first step I want to take is making my career vision bigger than before. My career goal used to be opening couple hotels in China, and now I want to change it to be opening a chain hotel because this is my desired goal. As Richard (2018) argued that: “transformational leadership paints a grand vision of the desired future.” (p363). And then, to achieve my career vision I have to put in the hard work on hotel management skills and leadership skills. Therefore, I will be developing my hotel management skills through reading books of hotel operation. Also, I will spend more time on team assignments, I will be the leader to set up meeting schedules, allocate responsibility to each team member, and lead them to get a better grade. As Richard (2018) mentioned that: “transformational leadership communicates it in a way that makes the pain of change worth the effort.” (p363).
In addition to my career goal, I will inspire the people around me to achieve a higher performance. For example, when my classmate expects to get 70 percent of total marks for the final exam, I will encourage his to do better because he has the ability to get 80 percent of total marks for the exam. As Richard (2018) argued that: transformational leadership inspires followers to go beyond their own self-interests for the good of the group. They motivate people to do more than originally expected.” (P363). To inspire his get 80 percent of total marks, I will help him set up a specific reviewing plan. Also, I am not only helping my classmates to get an excellent mark but also teach them how to study in an efficient way, which enables him to lead himself getting a high studying performance nest time. As Richard (2018) mentioned that: “transformational leadership develops followers into leaders.” (p363).

All in all, that is my leadership vision. I believe is my responsibility to develop my leadership skills because the society needs more people who are honest and have the transformational leadership style. That will make the whole society more trustful instead of cheating, more encouraging instead of sacrificing, more possible instead of impossible.
