The amount of electors for each state is decided by the percent of the total US population of a given state: The same number as the number of representatives in the House.
There is a total of 538 Electors. A majority of 270 is required to win the Presidency. If no candidate wins 270 Electoral votes, it is left to Congress to decide who won.
