The French revolted against their own corrupt government. They demanded change in the rights of each social class due to the unjust laws that affected the lower classes. Some of the laws included the prices could be determined by whomever was selling the product causing a significant amount of people to go into debt, and only the lower classes having to pay debt while the higher classes didn't have to pay.

The colonist revolted because the government in Great Britain was being unfair. The people living in the colonies had no representation but were still being taxed. The colonist knew that the only way to change the way they were forced to live their lives was to revolt against the government, because if they didn't the government would keep treating them the same. There is even a possibility that the government would have made things harder for those in the colonies.

In France most people revolted because the higher social classes, the clergy and nobility, were given unfair advantages over the other class. The clergy and nobility both had a significantly higher say in the government, but they did not have to pay taxes and they still got top jobs. Lower classes, including bourgeoise, urban workers, and peasants, knew that the only way for change was to do it aggressively. The government believed they were better in every way and would have never aloud the lower class to make a fool of them.
