This demonstrates when the dad is experiencing anxiety.
Synopsis: A little girl is experiencing life with a loving dad who has depression. She describes his depression as the blue and talks about what it’s like to see him sad. By the end of the story she comes to the conclusion that the blue will always appear in small or big waves but that they can go through anything together.
My personal response: I have experienced family depression and I know the toll it takes on the kids. This book would have been great to have when I was young because it shows kids who may be experiencing this that you're not alone. This book normalizes mental health and I think this is a great topic.

Curricular connections: Reading requirements/language arts

Reading about the horrific things they had to go through on the trail of tears after being forced out of their home is horrendous and inhumane.
