Where to begin? I cannot thank you enough for everything you've done for me these past six years. You were always my biggest fan, advocate, and encourager. You always had my back and supported my growth unconditionally. You made 'work' both fun and very rewarding for all of us in the science department. I genuinely hope that we can stay in touch and catch up from time to time. I will be sure to reach out if I'm ever in central FL again.

I am super thrilled for you that you can start this new chapter in life, and I hope that it allows you to go on many adventures to do more of the things that you love and deserve. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible impact you've had on my journey. Under your guidance, and during some of my most challenging times, I have been able to turn my life around and thrive.  

You came into my life at a moment when I was struggling to find my footing, especially as a mother navigating the sometimes-unfriendly terrain of the culture shock I had when I became a scientist. Your belief in me, not just as a teacher but as a mother, reinstated my confidence and reminded me of the importance of embracing all facets of WHO I am. I know that I hid my second pregnancy from everyone until right before I was due... and did not take any FMLA leave... and I now know that I should have trusted in you and Nikki. It was never that I didn’t, it was that I couldn’t fathom losing another job to motherhood. Especially one I loved so incredibly much. Just know that your kindness, encouragement, and genuine care have left a lasting mark on me. You showed me that it's possible to excel in science & a teacher while embracing and celebrating motherhood. For that, I am forever grateful.

You took a chance on me, and you have given me many opportunities others have not. Your leadership and mentorship have made me a better person, a better professional, a better teacher & academic, a better mother, and a better wife. All qualities, that I have always admired about you. I only hope that one day I could possess half the leadership qualities you have. As you step out of the professional world and step into a well-deserved retirement, know that your legacy will continue to inspire and uplift countless others, just as it has done for me. May this new chapter be filled with all the joy, relaxation, and all the amazing adventures you deserve.
