In the end, the two most important compromises that were reached were 1) Missouri would be admitted as a slave state and 2) a new boundary would be established across the remainder of the Louisiana Territory.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Compromise of 1850 was made in order to decide whether California, and future states, would be admitted as free or slave states. The four compromises made were 1) California would be admitted as a slave state, 2) New Mexico and Utah would be allowed to vote for themselves, 3) slave markets would be banned in Washington, D.C., and 4) The Fugitive Slave Act would be implemented. Eventually, both Utah and New Mexico decided that slavery would not be permitted.</div>]]></description>

Douglass, which stated that the two territories could vote if they wanted to become a free or slave state. This lead to abolitionists and pro-slavery groups flooding into the two territories in order to get  votes in for their cause.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Dred-Scott Supreme Court case was a White, male slaveowner against  one of his Black, male slaves, who claimed that he was supposed to be a free man now since his owner had brought him to Wisconsin, a free state, for a short time. The Supreme Court's two rulings were 1) as an African American slave, he was not, nor could be a U.S. citizen and 2) the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional.</div>]]></description>

He had only gotten 44% of the votes and all of them were from the North, which made the South angry because it showed they no longer had any power left in Congress and the general public.</div>]]></description>
