As the leader of the group, he had power and authority over the inferior animals below him. With this power in hand, he abused it and took more for himself and other fellow pigs instead of sharing it to the animals that worked day and night for the crops

Boxer was always goal driven and worked hard to get whatever he could done. Being so loyal to the pigs, especially Napoleon, he adapted the motto of “If comrade Napoleon says it, it must be right,” and he used this to steer himself to overworking. It constantly drained Boxer’s energy and it was the point where he was severely sick and old.
