2. How might our processes of need assessment and assistance respect the dignity of those who are being ‘served’?

Our social models intervene heavily in one’s life - asking them about their bank account details, CPF details, where and why an expenditure was done?

This could make one feel their life is being directed and scrutinized. For example, someone suggested we could create block funds so that the community members could decide how the funds are going to be spent? By being able to exercise their ownership, more family members will definitely feel they have the decision making power too.

4. How can we simplify the changemaker journey for aspiring changemakers to understand the systems that lie ahead of them (e.g. SSO, SSA, FSC, Town Council, CC, RC, MP, Citizens Consultative Committee, etc)?

5. How might we look at the nourishment, support and compensation of leaders of GUMs who are passionate about social issues and communities so that they can be sustainable?

Many GUM leaders face challenges in sustaining their initiatives because of a lack of nourishment (e.g. recognition, social and emotional support), support (e.g. no career paths and progression) or compensation (e.g. honorariums, most funding doesn’t cover manpower). If community work is a marathon, how can we help them to keep running?
