🌼Xinlyn and Sitong🌸

For mission 4, we used visualisation to find out the radius of the quadrant. This is a pretty hard question for us as we cant visualisise until we draw it out. We can see that the diagonal line of the square is the radius. We learnt that the radius of a circle is the line from the center to the round edge. To find the area of the square, we can cut the squares into four triangles and find the area of each triangle before adding them together. Basically, that is how we solved misson 4. We also would not have done it without Lyvia and Elly's help. This is why we think that visualisation is very important in geometry.

Lyvia and Elly ⭐️

We made use of basic shapes in order to solve the questions, For mission 3, we added 2 similar semicircles of the same radius to make one big circle. We think that by forming basic shapes, it makes it easier to solve the questions, thats how we finished our escape room. Then, for mission 5(final mission), we added 4 boomerangs in one circle to make a square, so it simplifies what we needed to do. And for mission 2(i think) Si tong & xinlyn helped us understand the concept of the question. After that, we solved the answer with their help. This activity was so fun & enjoyable!! Even though we were not here when mdm nora taught the class circles, with this lesson, we think we have understood the concept much more. Mdm Nora has made our math lessons more fun and enjoyable!! I love how she books ipads to further our learning ability for us to learn math with more interest. Also best math teacher ever!

I made sure to also write down the radius and diameter on each of the shape if needed, so that when I am writing the steps, I wouldn't forget and I can just look at my drawing of the diagram. I think that people who have trouble visualising diagrams can use this method too. You can just refer to your diagram, no need to look elsewhere and it's a big help too.

Eg. like this:

🐇Xuanjin and Yirou🐉

In the last mission, we cut the shaded part into four and divided it into squares. In this way, we can subtract the quarter circle from the square to get the shaded part. Then we multiply the answer by four to get the final answer.

For the second last question, we multiplied 8 x 8 x pi, and then we rounded it to two decimal places. Next, we used to answer to divide by four and rounded it to two decimal places. To find the small triangles in the square, we cut it into four smaller triangles and found its area by multiplying half times four times four. Then we used to answer to multiply by four and used the answer from before to subtract by the previous answer (this may be confusing but if you know you know heheh). Honestly we couldn't have done it without Xuan Jin cause she was really the brains behind this lol. The strategis above really helped us visualise the figure better and helped us find the answer in a shorter and easier method. Overall, this activity was so fun and engaging and we hope we will be able to do this again.

For the mission 4, we tried very hard to to the square and quadrant question but we realised that 8cm was the radius and (1/2x8x4x2) is the area of the square and 16xpi is the area of the quadrant.
