Today I trained my belting voice by doing a lip trill exercise and go up the scales. Then, I will use the word "ney" to sing up the scales, while aiming to "shoot" my vocals out across the room. These 2 warm up exercises helps me project my chest and head voice better. As part of the exercise, I sang "Sinaran" by Sheila Majid, where a lot of chest voice belting is required.

To achieve precise pitching, I warmed up my vocals by singing up and down the scales. I've noticed that i tend to get flat whenever i try to hit a higher note. One of the reasons was also because I did not use enough support from my diaphragm. To solve this, I chose a song with lots of higher notes, and tried matching my pitch to each note on the piano. I chose the same song which was "Snow Angel" by Renee Rapp.

Today I did some exercises to smoothen my vocal transitions from chest voice to head voice, to avoid the transitions sounding like it is about to crack. There is an exercise I've tried called the "siren" where I focus on gliding smoothly from my lowest chest voice to my highest head voice, and tried to avoid having voice cracks. Then, I used the vowel "ooh" and did an octave leap, as I go up the scales. Once again, I used the song "Snow angel" to practice this technique.

Today I worked on my runs and riffs. I used the outro of "Bridge over troubled water" by Jacob Collier as my exercise. The previous week was helpful because this song not only helps develop better runs and riffs, but also requires a smooth vocal transition from one line to another.

Today I have worked on my enunciations. The song I chose to practice my enunciation on is "Almost there" by Anika Noni Rose, a song from the musical called "Princess and the frog". Musical theatre songs are known for their enunciations, which I think is suitable for this practice. I started by reading the lyrics and over-pronounce the words. Then, I proceeded to apply this exercise on the chosen song.

On this day I have done exercises that helps with my breath control, by inhaling deeply before exhaling on a sustained "sh" sound, maintaining a steady airflow and consistent volume. I did this for around 4 times. I was also planning to learn the bridge of "When this rain stops" by Wendy, as I need a lot of breath control for this part.

Through this practice session, i have learnt how to use my diaphragm more while singing, and because there were some parts of this song that has included chromatic scales, it is definitely a good practice for my pitching accuracy.

I chose to sing "A whole new world" from the Disney musical "Aladdin". As mentioned before, singing songs from musicals are a good practice for vocalists, it trains a vocalist's projection skills and head voice skills.
