It is rather low beat and quiet when you aren't in battle and dynamically changes to be more fast paced and loud and pumping when you enter battle.

True surround sound uses multiple speakers placed around the room to immerse the player in the game, by making them feel as though they are in the same position as the character they are player. surround sound cannot be produced using headphones and must be virtualised although headphones with a larger sound stage can help players with sound positions.

Background audio: Any sort of audio that adds to the ambiance like the sound of cars in the distance, it almost constantly plays and adds to the atmosphere of the game and helps immerse the player into the game. It can be produced using actual sounds or using Foley work depending on the sound and the setting.

Sound FX: Stuff like gunshots and explosions are sound FX, they make the game feel alive and interactive, without sound FX the game would seem odd and the experience would be greatly diminished. Sound FX is usually created using Foley work because actually recording stuff like explosions can be dangerous or expensive and if the setting requires some kind of sci-fi noise like a plasma gun firing it would be very hard (read: impossible) to produce said sound.

Music: Music sets the tone of the game and can greatly increase the player’s immersion into the game, as stated before music gives the player information such as fast paced music indicating a battle etc. music is created using actual instruments or using synthesizers, if the game features ambient audio the music can be made to not interfere too much with that and to possibly even blend with said audio.
