The reason that he was made was to challenge Gilgamesh since he was such a bad ruler to the people. When Gilgamesh learned about Enkidu was through his dreams which I did not know happened to God's when they are predicting something in the future. Reading this article makes it more interesting because it goes more into depth about the story since when we read the article last week about 'The Epic of Gilgamesh' it did not go into depth. I believe with the right development and demonstration some people are willing to become the better person they have always driven to be. As the people pleaded to the gods, the gods decided to create Enkidu, he was an equal to Gilgamesh, he was a man of wilderness but spent 6 day and 7 nights with a "harlot" which ended up severing his connection with the wild animals. Enkidu was then brought into human life and will be united with Gilgamesh where they will begin their first battle. And that Enkidu actually looked similar to Gilgamesh with the exception of some features. Which surprised me since they are foil characters, but also makes sense since they are brothers. While he was an evil and mean person his journey to knowing himself still gave him a positive purpose. The first transition from him being a spiteful person starts with the introduction of Enkidu. Enkidu was the match Gilgamesh needed to be put into his place. Once their bond was created that was the beginning of Gilgamesh's journey to his self-discovery. For all of Gilgamesh's life leading up to meeting Enkidu, he was always alone and stuck in his evil ways. However when Enkidu came into his life everything started to change in a positive way. They bring the best out of each other & guide each other in the right path. He was a tyrant and had a lot of power. He had so much power but I truly think he was not fit for being king but still being considered as a "hero". I learned the role of the gods and goddesses within the society. Another thing that I was able to further understand was the role of Enkidu. He was a reflection of Gilgamesh, created by the gods to teach Gilgamesh lessons. After his death, Gilgamesh becomes afraid of mortality. Gilgamesh's personality was before meeting Enkidu and his actions of tyranny. The evolution of his character was predicted by his dreams, as he had a sense of an important person similar to him that will eventually become the motivation of wanting to become a better person. Endiku´s role in this story was to give Gilgamesh guidance of his hero journey as well as the acceptance of inevitable death that will eventually become the end of their story.
