One problem facing our coastal communities and our oceans is overfishing. Another thing is trawling. They drag huge nets into our ocean. My solution is to make legislation about trawling.

 The problem is overfishing because there are too many people fishing, for example, “shrimp, cod, tuna, and salmon are just some of the fish whose populations are at risk of collapsing. There used to be an abundance of fish in the sea but the price of salmon skyrocketed.” This is a problem because, for example, “ Trawling catches unintended fish than a lot of times those fish die in the process.” This is a problem because if this keeps happening all the fish in the sea will be dead and the food chain will be messed up. Another reason this is awful is that “ Dead fish are returned to the sea because they weren't the target fish. We don’t have that kind of sea life to waste if this keeps happening. All of the seafood that we eat today will be gone and you will never be able to see the beauty of fish ever again. Trawling is a big problem. I think we need to ban trawling for killing fish that they don’t need to catch. This is a problem because all of our fish could die.

My solution is to ban trawling by making it illegal, for example “ in order to address overfishing trawling needs to cease. Other fishing methods that catch fewer unwanted fish and marine animals should be used instead,”  if trawling keeps going all of our fish will be dead I know this because “The Chinese government imposed a trawling ban in vessels fitted for trawling and supporting deckhands who’d be affected by the reduced amount of fish caught”. ( you can help stop overfishing) This is going to be better because people that love seafood will still be able to eat it. The good thing is there would be more fish in the sea. Also, other governments have already banned trawling. We don't want to be left behind. These are my reasons why we should stop overfishing by banning trawling.
