I really like making works with limited color palettes. I really try to focus on keeping colors limited yet vibrant, contrasting/compatible, dark/light, etc. in many of my works, I pay close attention to color, and how I can accomplish the above list while also keeping the elements of photography consistent.

I like making works that contain different lighting. Many of my works contain early day/evening light. I think that through my continued work with lighting, and how to create angles with lighting, that I have greatly improved with it, as well as figuring out which time of day (what specific time) will allow me to capture the distinct lighting/angle I want (whether cooler, harsher, etc.)

I spent a lot of time with night photography. It was featured in a lot of my projects in the past years. I really wanted to grow with this specific type of photography, especially since it requires more precision with lighting, angles, focus, settings, etc than in the day time. I noticed that my work became a lot stronger with this by the end of DP2. They started out being blurry and severely cropped (to add more emphasis on the subject matter) yet by the end, I was able to gain a strength into making the photos more concise, less blurry, more articulated, etc.

A lot of my past photography deals a lot with colors/limited color palettes and nighttime/evening lighting. However, I really want to experiment with softer lighting and color palettes. I feel as though many of my works are "harsh" between the nighttime photography and the vibrant colors. I really want to get better at taking photos with a softer feel to it, and really learn more about it (what time would be best, what subject matter would be best, what color palettes would be best, etc.)

I've always had a really hard time with editing and different resources to do so. I tried to make up for that with my photos containing already vibrant colors and precise lighting (so that I would not have to edit a ton.) However, I really want to get away from that and really experiment with editing, light room, photoshop, etc. I love photos that have this soft, blue overlay to them, and I feel by connecting both softer lighting/colors and editing (two of the things I'd like to grow my skills in) that I would be able to create works that fit my new aesthetic/likes while also growing my skills.

I feel as though in most of my photographs, they aren't balanced. I usually have to much foreground/background, too much emphasis on one spot, etc. Although the photos contain other elements that help them work, I feel as though balance is something I'd really like to strengthen this semester.
