At the start of the period of imperialism, the United States was a nation already on the rise, despite its youthfulness. The country experienced an explosive growth in population and quickly advanced towards industrialization. However, this era also brought about some significant negative consequences, with cultural suppression that stifled the expression of diverse cultures, political domination that imposed the will of the dominant power, and the ruthless exploitation of resources and laborers that resulted in widespread suffering.

During the late 19th and early 20th century, the United States of America began to establish itself as a global superpower. The power of the nation grew rapidly, and its influence expanded beyond its borders. However, despite this growth, there were still many individuals who opposed the idea of imperialism. The opposition was due to the fact that imperialism often involved the subjugation and exploitation of other nations and peoples. This meant that the wealth and resources of these nations were often taken advantage of, leading to the suppression and domination of these groups. The subjugation of people and the exploitation of their resources were viewed as grave injustices by those who opposed imperialism. As a result, many people expressed their concerns about the US's imperialistic ambitions and the harm it could potentially bring to other nations and people.
