         <description><![CDATA[<div>A protest against runaway prices that grew out of the Locofocos. The protesters broke into private storerooms and stole bags and barrels of flour. It was an example of how wages need to be risen to keep people able to afford basic needs.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Lowell Mill Girls(1834, 1836)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A group of women were working in the textile mills of Lowell, Massachusetts, and gathered to participate in strikes. They went on strike which caused the mill to run far below capacity, and they went on strike for weeks until the mill repealed their rent hike. The rent hike was for women living in the company's boarding houses. The significance was that they were bringing awareness to the unfair treatment of women in the workforce.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Women were working in a textile factory on the 8th floor. They took lots of breaks so the owner locked them inside. A fire started and all of the women either jumped or burned to death. This is significant because it allowed for the laws that prevent locking people in a building. It also created laws requiring buildings to have fire escapes.</div>]]></description>

Ronald Reagan fired most of them which slowed air travel for a while. This was significant because this is the start of when workers started to be more reluctant to use strikes as a form of protest.</div>]]></description>
