Sub-Saharan Africa is most affected by HIV/AIDS. This particular area is infected with HIV/AIDS because they are developing countries with no modern technology. The region has no money, so therefore, people infected with HIV/AIDS can't get help or medicine to stop it. 1 in 5 people don't know that they are infected with HIV/AIDS. There is also poverty, inequality, and social instability.

What has Africa done to overcome this epidemic?

Africa has taken major strides in overcoming this epidemic. The government has set up treatment stations in rural areas where hospitals are hard to find. This has changed the amount of people being treated from 1 million to 7.1 million. The UN has been ignoring this problem saying that it is Africa's problem and not the world's problem.

Why is HIV/AIDS so problematic for Africa's future

HIV/AIDS is so problematic for Africa's future because HIV/AIDS is so hard to get rid of. There is no cure for it and since many children are born with HIV/AIDS, they will eventually pass it on to other people. HIV/AIDS also lowers the age rate of people. This also causes the population to decrease. The long term problem is treatment for it as well as finding a cure.

The stigma of HIV/AIDS is worsening the problem of HIV/AIDS. It is by making people think that oh, it isn't that bad or by spreading rapidly and infecting so many people. The stigma of HIV/AIDS is that it is a bad disease and if you have it, you should probably get treatment. The thing is, many people don't know that they have HIV/AIDS and don't want to get treatment. This is why it is worsening the problem.
