This is my interpretation of O-Vals- by Gjallarhorn. Half way done. I was having difficulties with blending and color choices. Another difficulty was that the detailing on the dragon's neck. Making it look like stained wood or cut outs was a very difficult process of learning and experimenting at the same time. I also changed my idea here for the corner of the piece, which is covered by my palate in the picture. My original idea was to have an eye looking behind the shield, but I realised that wouldn't play well with the composition with two controdicting focal pouints.

Just beginning the green hatching of the shield, which was extremely difficult for me. Curving the brush was difficult to stay in very thin lines. This process was a mistake on my part. I wasn't thinking about the background. I wanted the background a lighter green, which did not occur to me at the time I should have done the light green in the background first. With watercolor you want to go light to darks, back to front. This process costed me a lot of water and dabs of a cloth trying to prevent smearing of the dark green or the whole piece at times. Learning on the job is what art is all about, you have to figure it out yourself to make it click in your mind.
